CONCERN DESERVES OPENNESS – TO ALL MY SYPC LADIES
Thanks for your concerns. Almost 200 emails in 1 day is overwhelming to say the least!
Well, I will start off by saying that at times taking care of others is easier and more important than taking care of yourself. During these last 12 – 15 months I have worked almost 90 hours per week and probably slept less than 4 hours per night. I am happy that SYPC and its concept has been so well received. The response again has been overwhelming to say the least.
As many of you may have heard, on Friday I received some surprising news from my cardiologist. This may surprise most of you because you know me as a 100% energy & power man. It may also surprise most of you to hear that in my lifetime I have endured 3 major heart operations and numerous minor heart operations. The last of these operations was 9 years ago. These operations always seem to have occurred for the same reason.
When someone loses their focus on the outside world and concentrates only on their dreams, then there is always a chance that a point will come when reality and dreams can no longer co-exist. My dreams are to motivate and inspire people to believe in themselves, learning the positive aspects of movement/being active and eating somewhat healthier. I can not count how often family, friends and you members have said to me that I should take a vacation. My reply to this was always the same: that during my active days as an athlete, my 10 year service in the US army and as a fitness professional, I have seen so much of the world that I do not miss anything. To be truthful, that is how I still feel at this moment. However, I now have a keen awareness & appreciation of the kindness that surrounds me. Being so focused on the success of my dream (SYPC), I was not aware of this before. You all are truly the women mentioned in the SYPC concept. Your positive attitudes, fighting spirit and now your kindness continue to unbelievably motivate me.
I was allowed to return home Friday evening under the condition that I stay home and not participate in any activities that may require my heart rate to become very high. I have to return to the hospital tomorrow. My op, a standard procedure, is scheduled for Tuesday.
Some of the emails I received were quite touching and hopefully this message has helped to ease your concerns. The doctors told me that after 2 weeks normally an active lifestyle is again possible. I will be able to teach Pilates classes in about 5-7 days, but the sports classes not until sometime after Christmas. I have been told that you ladies have been very satisfied with the fitness professionals that replaced me these last days, so maybe Roy will no longer have a job in 2 weeks: – ))))))
I miss you ladies and if I was a little reserved during these last weeks, I am truly sorry.
I CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN.
And take a look at the picture. You will see strength, energy and power. And then take a second, closer look….you probably did not notice before. You don’t realize how a strong a person really is until you see them at their weakest moment. And in the end, some of your greatest pain become your greatest strength.
Never forget: YOU ARE SO MUCH STRONGER THAN YOU THINK.
